Company News | Zhongan Weixin and Tecway Reach an Intention to Cooperate on Confined-Space Management

Technical Exchange · Intelligent Confined-Space Management

On October 12, 2026, the general manager of Zhongan Weixin and a team from the company visited Shanghai Tecway Marine Co., Ltd. The two sides discussed applications of an intelligent confined-space management and control system in the shipbuilding and ship repair industry and reached an intention to cooperate.

Confined-space work in shipbuilding, repair, storage and transportation, and industrial operations has long faced limited monitoring, difficult communication inside compartments and heavy reliance on personnel's experience. The discussion began with a practical question: how can teams understand internal conditions and work status without increasing the risks associated with entry?

01 Four challenges in shipboard confined-space work

Management, technical and commercial teams met in Tecway Marine's conference room. Drawing on shipbuilding and repair operations, they identified four practical challenges.

    Delayed monitoring

Intermittent checks using portable instruments do not provide continuous, real-time monitoring of gas concentrations inside compartments, potentially delaying the detection of hazards.

    Difficult signal transmission

All-metal ship structures severely attenuate wireless signals. Conventional communication equipment can leave coverage gaps inside compartments, making reliable data transmission difficult.

    Gaps in oversight

Attendants outside a compartment may be unable to observe its conditions remotely in real time. Safety oversight relies heavily on on-site experience and individual responsibility, limiting warning and response efficiency.

    Increasing regulatory requirements

GB 30871 and local requirements for confined-space work in shipbuilding and repair are increasing demand for technical measures that improve inherent safety.

02 What the system is designed to address

Zhongan Weixin presented a system concept that integrates gas monitoring inside compartments, data transmission and on-site supervision within a single management framework, allowing personnel outside to maintain continuous awareness of internal conditions.

The intended transition is from intermittent checks to continuous monitoring, from communication blind spots to reliable data transmission, and from experience-led oversight to remote, real-time visibility. These are among the most pressing issues in shipboard confined-space operations.

For shipbuilding and repair companies, the value is not merely an additional piece of equipment. It is a move towards continuous monitoring and timely warning in safety processes traditionally supported by manpower and experience.

03 Intention to cooperate and next steps

Building on earlier market research and the detailed discussions during the visit, the two sides reached an intention to cooperate on applications of the intelligent confined-space management and control system in the shipbuilding and repair industry.

Under the preliminary arrangements, they plan to work towards finalising a cooperation agreement in the near term, focusing on specific shipyard scenarios and application requirements to bring the system into real operating environments.

Tecway has extensive experience serving maritime, storage and transportation, and industrial clients, including confined-space work, site management and safety management. The two sides will seek to combine their strengths and align technical capabilities with practical operational needs.

The meeting advanced the path from identifying confined-space challenges to implementing intelligent management. Tecway will continue to focus on customers' practical safety and management needs, supporting safer and more efficient solutions.
