Recently, Tecway's technical service team travelled to Wuhan with Kehai Lantian (Tianjin) Petroleum Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. to take part in a mechanical cleaning project for refined oil product tanks associated with Sinopec, carrying out cleaning work on three 5,000 m³ refined oil product tanks.
Tank cleaning is an important and complex field operation in petrochemical storage and transportation. Meeting cleaning requirements while improving efficiency, reducing the risks of manual tank entry and gaining a clearer view of conditions inside the tank are key concerns in tank cleaning services.
01 Focusing on internal floating roof tank cleaning with a mechanical approach
The project focused on onshore storage tank cleaning and used mechanical cleaning to meet the cleaning requirements of internal floating roof tanks.
Compared with traditional cleaning methods, mechanical cleaning can reduce, to a certain extent, the need for personnel to enter the tank directly, while dedicated equipment improves the efficiency and controllability of the cleaning work.
During this operation, the technical service team completed mechanical cleaning of three 5,000 m³ refined oil product tanks, providing on-site technical support for the customer's tank cleaning needs.
02 Manway-inserted nozzles: visual cleaning that hits exactly where it is aimed
The project used manway-inserted cleaning nozzles, combined with visual cleaning, allowing site personnel to observe the cleaning status inside the tank more directly.
With visual cleaning, operators can adjust the cleaning direction and focus according to actual conditions inside the tank, achieving more precise cleaning control.
Before subsequent sludge removal begins, site personnel can also check the cleaning status inside the tank in advance, allowing personnel entry and the following work steps to be scheduled more appropriately.
Visual cleaning makes the tank cleaning process more transparent and controllable, and provides a stronger basis for planning site work.
03 Compact, dedicated equipment suited to small and medium-sized tanks
For some internal floating roof tanks, especially tanks below 10,000 m³, traditional large cleaning equipment may face certain limitations in site layout, equipment mobilisation and operating economics.
The small dedicated cleaning equipment used in this project is better suited to the mechanical cleaning needs of small and medium-sized tanks. The equipment is more flexible and relatively simple to deploy on site, meeting cleaning requirements while reducing reliance on complex large-scale cleaning equipment.
04 Technical service close to the site, for more efficient and safer tank cleaning
Tank cleaning is not just an equipment operation; it is a comprehensive test of field experience, process understanding and work organisation.
From equipment deployment to site operation, and from observing tank conditions to planning sludge removal, this project completed mechanical cleaning to meet the requirements for refined oil product tanks, and used visual methods to make site work more transparent and controllable.
