    In oil and gas storage and transport, petrochemicals and other industrial environments, safety has never been something that a single piece of equipment, a single monitoring point or a single inspection can deliver on its own.

    The safe operation of a storage tank depends on the condition of the floating roof, the tank foundation, the seals and the earthing system, and is also closely tied to lightning, static electricity, accumulation of combustible gases, hydrocarbon evaporation, equipment corrosion and day-to-day maintenance.

    An anomaly in any one of these areas can compromise the safety of the entire tank farm.

    So who is Tecway Industrial, after more than thirty years of focus on industrial storage and transport safety, and what kinds of problems can we help our clients solve?

    Who we are

    Tecway International (Petrochemical) Limited was founded in Hong Kong in 1995 and renamed Tecway Industrial Systems Limited in 2025. The name has changed, but our long-term focus has not. For more than three decades the company has served the oil and gas storage and transport, petrochemical and related industrial sectors, providing practical products and technical solutions around industrial equipment safety, tank monitoring, fire and explosion protection, environmental control and long-cycle equipment operation.

    In its early years, the company concentrated on introducing advanced overseas industrial equipment and services, partnering with a range of international industrial-equipment and safety-technology companies to bring gas-based fire suppression, tank accessories, mechanised tank cleaning and industrial firefighting products and technologies into the local market.

    As our understanding of Chinese industrial sites deepened, our business gradually extended from straight equipment supply into technical consultancy, solution design, product localisation, installation and commissioning, operational support and joint development.

    Today the company has three core business areas:

    We introduce and supply advanced industrial equipment from China and abroad based on project needs, supporting clients with product selection, technical communication and project integration.

    Around tanks, tank farms and industrial equipment operation, we provide technical consultancy, solution design, tank cleaning, maintenance support and equipment application services.

    We work with research institutes and technology partners to develop and localise advanced technologies that address real-world problems in tank safety monitoring, fire and explosion protection and environmental control.

    Problem 1: You can't see what's happening inside a tank — how do you detect anomalies early?

    For a long time, tank inspection has relied largely on manual rounds.

    But subtle issues such as a slight tilt of the floating roof, liquid accumulation in pontoons, uneven settlement of the tank foundation, or localised temperature anomalies in the rim seal are difficult to spot by eye in good time.

    By the time the anomaly is obvious, it may already be affecting normal tank operation, with possible consequences such as a stuck or sunken floating roof, deformation of the tank shell, or even fire.

    To address these issues, Tecway Industrial provides online tank-condition monitoring solutions, including:

    • Floating-roof tilt, temperature and surface liquid monitoring;
    • Uniform and differential settlement monitoring of the tank foundation;
    • Pontoon liquid-accumulation monitoring;
    • Rim-seal temperature and fire-risk monitoring;
    • Online earthing-resistance monitoring.

    Some of these monitoring systems use fibre-optic sensing, transmitting data optically with no electrical current at the sensing end, which makes them particularly well suited to flammable and explosive environments.

    Monitoring data is sent to a host platform, where equipment status is displayed graphically and alarms are triggered against pre-set thresholds, helping operators stay on top of changes in tank operation.

    In practice, this means tank management can gradually move from relying on periodic manual checks to continuous online monitoring of key parameters.

    Problem 2: Lightning, static electricity and hydrocarbon accumulation — how do you reduce fire and explosion risk?

    Between the primary and secondary seals of a large floating-roof tank, there is normally a certain hydrocarbon vapour space.

    Factors such as oil residue on the tank wall, product receipt and dispatch and ambient temperature can cause combustible vapours to accumulate in this sealed space. Should they encounter a lightning strike, a static spark or another ignition source, a rim-seal deflagration or fire can result.

    For this high-risk zone, Tecway Industrial offers multi-layered protection solutions tailored to the tank's structure and project conditions.

    For example, secondary-seal hydrocarbon-space anti-deflagration devices compress the volume in which combustible vapours can collect, reducing the risk of a deflagration in the sealed space.

    Combustible-gas monitoring combined with nitrogen-protection systems can monitor combustible-gas concentration in the sealed space in real time and inject inert gas to dilute it when a set threshold is reached.

    Rim-seal firefighting systems, distributed temperature monitoring and emergency shut-off devices on tank inlet and outlet lines can be added in parallel to strengthen early detection, control and isolation in the event of an incident.

    Our goal is not just to fight and manage fires after they happen, but to detect hazardous factors as early as possible and reduce the risk before a fire or explosion can occur.

    Problem 3: Are lightning and static-electricity earthing systems always reliable?

    Lightning and static-electricity earthing systems are a fundamental part of safe tank-farm operation.

    But earthing grids, down-conductors and connection points spend their working life underground or outdoors, where corrosion, natural ageing, loose connections and external damage can all degrade performance.

    If detection relies solely on periodic manual checks, it can be difficult to spot rising earthing resistance, faulty connections or even broken conductors in time.

    For this, Tecway Industrial offers online earthing-resistance monitoring systems that continuously track the condition of tank earthing connections and changes in earthing resistance.

    The system records real-time and historical data and raises an alarm when readings move outside the configured range, helping operators investigate earthing anomalies promptly.

    Online monitoring reduces the information gaps that come with relying purely on periodic manual checks, making the otherwise "invisible safety line" of lightning and static-electricity earthing observable and traceable.

    Problem 4: Hydrocarbon evaporation and odour from open liquid surfaces — how do you tackle the source?

    Wastewater ponds, oil-spill ponds, some cone-roof tanks and other open liquid surfaces are common pain points in industrial VOC fugitive-emission and odour management.

    Evaporation from an open liquid surface is generally driven by the volatility of the medium, the exposed area, the wind speed at the surface and temperature differences.

    Traditional end-of-pipe collection can struggle on surfaces that are large, irregular in shape or congested with internal structures, with possible issues including difficult collection, complex systems and high energy consumption.

    For these scenarios, Tecway Industrial offers physical-cover solutions such as floating covers.

    Floating covers sit directly on the liquid surface and self-assemble from individual modules, reducing the contact area between the liquid and the air and suppressing hydrocarbon evaporation at the source.

    Their modular structure can adapt to some irregular liquid surfaces and configurations with multiple internal structures, and can be arranged according to the actual conditions on site.

    Compared with end-of-pipe treatment alone, physical covers focus on source reduction, helping to lower VOC emissions, improve on-site odour, and reduce the safety risks associated with combustible vapour spaces.

    Problem 5: Scaling, corrosion and wax deposition — how do you keep equipment running long-term?

    Industrial equipment safety is not only about the tank itself; it also depends on the long-term stable operation of pipelines, heat exchangers, cooling-water systems and oil and gas transport equipment.

    Scaling, corrosion and wax deposition reduce heat-transfer efficiency and increase flow resistance and equipment energy consumption.

    In severe cases, they can lead to pipeline blockages, equipment leaks, reduced heat-transfer capacity and unplanned shutdowns, undermining the safe and stable operation of the plant.

    For petrochemical, heat, power and other industrial cooling-water systems, Tecway Industrial offers CPRS anti-scaling, anti-corrosion and anti-wax solutions.

    The device operates without an external power supply and without continuous chemical dosing. It can be specified according to on-site pipe diameter, pressure, flow, medium and equipment conditions, and is applied to heat exchangers, cooling-water circuits, boiler water and oilfield gathering lines, among others.

    For different types of scaling, corrosion and deposition issues, we analyse the medium, equipment conditions and operating parameters together to define a clear application scope, rather than treating one set of products as a universal answer.

    Problem 6: Tank cleaning and maintenance — how do you reduce people entering high-risk spaces?

    After long periods of service, sludge, sediment and other contaminants can accumulate on the tank bottom, and tanks need to be cleaned and maintained periodically.

    Traditional manual tank cleaning typically involves confined-space entry, exposing personnel to toxic and harmful gases, oxygen deficiency, fire and explosion risk, and contact with oily sludge.

    For large-tank cleaning, Tecway Industrial provides mechanised, automated tank-cleaning equipment and associated technical services.

    Through mechanised jetting, sludge break-up, circulation cleaning and sludge processing, the time personnel need to spend physically inside the tank can be reduced, lowering confined-space risk and improving cleaning efficiency and resource recovery.

    Through equipment and engineering, we want to move more of the high-risk, repetitive work onto mechanical systems, providing safer working conditions for site personnel.
